Important conditions

Important limitations

  • Acceptance is not guaranteed; underwriting can result in surcharges, exclusions or rejection.
  • The €40 headline price uses the highest annual deductible and is not comparable with a €0-deductible premium.
  • The home country is outside the normal foreign-country definition; the 180-day exception only applies to an EU/Schengen home country.
  • The policy wording and online information use different age formulations: the policy wording refers to the 65th birthday, while the online information also uses current calendar year minus year of birth. Verify current application eligibility.
  • The German policy wording prevails if translations differ.
Option tariff (AWV)

Preserve a later entry option without active medical cover

AWV is a separate paid option policy. It can preserve a later right to enter eligible Care Expat World tiers without another medical review, provided the AWV conditions are met. The option policy itself does not pay medical expenses.

  • A qualifying comprehensive health-insurance arrangement is required before exercising the option.
  • The option policy includes its own eligibility, age and term rules.
  • Regular AWV minimum term is 12 months and maximum term is 60 months; for the contract-suspension option, the minimum term is three months.
  • The option can no longer be taken out from the beginning of the calendar year in which the insured person turns 60.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a German residence?

No fixed German residence is required. The application defines a home country, and acceptance remains subject to the product's eligibility rules and medical underwriting.

How does home-country cover work?

The current policy wording defines the home country through nationality or an unlimited residence permit. If that home country is an EU or Schengen member, cover there can extend to up to 180 days per calendar year. The special 180-day rule does not apply to a non-EU/non-Schengen home country. For your own configuration, obtain written confirmation from the insurer before relying on this rule.

What is the 42-day higher-zone rule?

The current policy wording states that temporary stays in a higher target region are covered for medical emergencies for up to 42 days per trip. The same higher-region principle applies from target region 2 to 3; If you are unsure how your planned itinerary would be treated, ask the insurer.

What age limit applies?

According to the current policy wording, the 65th birthday must not have been completed when insurance starts. Care Concept's online information also uses an attained-age calculation based on the current calendar year minus the year of birth, even when this differs from the person's actual age. Check current application eligibility before the health interview.

Why does Care Concept advertise prices from €40?

The entry price applies to Basic, age 0–24, zone 1 and a €3,600 annual deductible. The same age and zone start at €130 per month with a €0 deductible. Age, zone, tier and deductible determine the premium.

What is the AWV option tariff?

AWV is a paid option policy, not active medical cover. The current wording lists €29/€39/€49 per month for Basic/Comfort/Premium and can preserve a later right to join eligible Care Expat World tiers without another health review, subject to the AWV conditions.
